I enjoy reading your newsletter and think your advice is very thought provoking and usually spot on, confirming my belief that the way I am trying to do business is correct.
I had already decided at the beginning of the year that I could not continue to work at the pace I had been last year and so was determined to pursue your route of working less for much more!
Recently, I had a new client ask me to put together a proposal for quite a bit of training. It was quite complicated and involved a lot of less profitable half days (for his operational reasons). It took quite a lot of going back and forth to organise it and we eventually did. Price had not even come up as an issue over this six month period. Once we had put everything in place, he then said he needed "help" on the price - it was much more than he had ever intended to pay. I was surprised and very annoyed. By this time I had already had a number of my other clients ask me about some of those dates - and they were paying not just the full price - but my increased fees as of 1st Jan! I debated long and hard with myself. I did not want to lose this business - I saw it as being a long term client, but I felt aggrieved that I was going to have to go back on my promise to myself (and my husband and three children!) and miss out on more profitable business from already good clients.
I was brave and stuck by my original decision and refused to reduce my fees. I did offer some alternatives, but I got an e-mail back (albeit it rather short and abrupt!) to say he would stick to the original proposal and costs.
My message to you is one of thanks! I feel confident now that if that ever happens again, I will not give in.' |

Have you noticed in life that when the student is ready, the universe provides a teacher? And that one of the Universe's key access points is the MMG Newsletter! Whenever I am dealing with an issue there is likely to be a helpful comment about it somewhere in one of my collection of Newsletters. So my coffee breaks become the source of really useful tips from people who are doing exactly what I'm doing.
I also love the positive admonishments given us on the front page. Recent examples include: “It's what having a successful business allows you to do” and “Don't give up – its faith and persistence” and, just recently, “Celebrate criticism – you're here to shake things up!” These also seem to be provided when that piece of sagacity is just what's needed. Keep it coming!

I am a huge fan of the Client Magnets approach and have been following Bernadette for several years. After implementing the Client Magnet tips my income rose by over 260%. My therapy business is now my sole income - something many therapists believe is impossible to achieve!

I worked through Bernadette's programme ‘How to Attract Corporate Clients’ in 2007. This has been an investment that has repaid itself several times over. My marketing and positioning know-how increased quickly and I enjoyed listening to the CD's in the car –I couldn't find the time to attend marketing courses. The analogy of holding out bird seed and letting the birds come to you rather than chasing them with a net has stuck in my mind. I focused my marketing energies on a niche- my Contact Centre training offering.

"I bought Bernadette's How to Make Money Marketing Seminars and Workshops e book several years ago, well before you launched into the international arena. I couldn't read it at first.
